How Bloggers Should Pitch to Companies

Now that I have ya all excited pitching to brands let's get right to it, shall we?

It's simple, sell your brand! The company doesn't care about how many blog posts you have, how long you've been blogging for or that your house is a mess {okay, this one they might!}. When you are writing your pitch you are selling your numbers (page views and social media) and how you can benefit the company.

Here's a few questions to answer in your pitch:

- Will you be tweeting/facebooking/etc. while you are reviewing the product?
- Are the companies social media outlets going to be shared with your readers?
- How will you help to increase the companies bottom line?
- Your stats! This is asked ALL the time, so go ahead and include page views and your social media numbers. If you don't think they are good, send it anyways!

You want to keep it short and sweet. The PR team for companies are flooded with pitches everyday. So, if you can, share a quick personal story. "My house is a mess and I need your ORGANIZING PRODUCT to help me clean it up!".

You also want to come across as a professional, I mean you are a professional right?!? When you are sending a pitch be sure to attach a .PDF file of your Media Kit. I can help you create one with prices starting at just $30! If you offer additional services such as advertisement, Sponsorship, etc. you may be able to upsell the company with your Media Kit.

Put on your big girl panties and get to sending out your pitches. You may consider titling your email "Opportunity for XXX Company" or "How XXX Company Can Benefit From WEBSITE NAME". Remember, you are SELLING your brand here people!

Take rejected as a learning experience. Figure out why the company isn't able to work with you and grow from there. I had a handful of rejections for every one company that said YES! The problem most bloggers make is they are willing to work for free...this isn't what you should be doing. Your blog is your business...if you do a Product Review and keep the item expect the company to host a Giveaway with you. If they aren't going to offer a Giveaway, it's not worth your time to promote. Move on to the next one!

I've been working with companies for the past 5 years. Now I get pitches from companies every day and I'm the one who is turning gigs away! You will get there in due time my love, due time...
Let me know how your doing and if you have any additional questions by leaving a comment below!

Why Bloggers Should Pitch to Brands

I was over at the SITS Girls Forums answering some questions and came across one about pitching to companies. I decided to click on it and read what my fellow bloggers were saying. I was completely shocked that not very many pitches had been done amongst a dozen women.

It seems as if the main reason as to why no pitches were being sent out is the fear of rejection. So my answer to this was:

Oh my word! I feel like such a old lady right now. What are ya'll waiting for?!? Pitch away!!! Sell yourself (well not literally, you know what I mean!!!) and your brand. Who cares if you get rejected, figure out why, put on your big girl panties and move on.

If your goal is to work with brands let it empower you! I can't tell you how many hundreds of companies I've worked with and relationships I have created because I pitched a company! Granted at first it was slow, time consuming and exhausting, but, now I LOVE it and at the end of the day making money from pitching to companies!

All they really care to know is your stats and what's in it for them. If you have a personal story you can throw into the pitch, even better ;) Now ya'll just gave me my next blog article idea, thanks!

I'll have another post next week about  how to pitch to brands...in the meantime start making a list of companies that you would love to work with!

Facebook Groups For Bloggers

It's taken me YEARS to utilize groups on Facebook. It wasn't until lately that I even knew there were groups out there filled with bloggers supporting one another! Feel free to request to join these groups and if you know of a group that we should join be sure to leave a comment and I'll get it added!

Add any Facebook groups that you deem necessary for other Frugal Bloggers!

Blog & Social Media Boosters - I haven't been active in this group as I just joined, so I don't know much about it!

FB Deals Group - If you are a deal blogger, join this group. This is a FABULOUS group of fellow deal seekers who support one another. I'm glad to be apart of it!

Review Wire Media - If you enjoy Blog Events, Giveaways, Product Reviews you'll want to get in on this group that I co-created with my Sister in Law!

VA's for Hire - Are you a Virtual Assistant? Utilize this group to grow your WAH business!

VA's For Hire - Content/Guest Posts for Sale - If you are like me and create content other bloggers can utilize on their websites consider joining this group. In addition, if you purchase content this one is for you!

Websites for Sale - I created this group after I was trying to sell my website (that I did sell!). Before you list on Flippa try this group out and then let me know if you sold through the group!

Utilize a Media Kit

For many bloggers, old and new alike, a Media Kit seems to be foreign language. It wasn't until I had been blogging for about 2 years that I was even asked for a Media Kit and then I had no idea what the hell it was! So I can began to research "What kind of information is in a Media Kit"?

If you ask around the blogosphere you'll receive different answers, but, at the end of the day you are selling yourself {ok, not literally, but, you know what I mean!} or your brand. You want to think of a Media Kit as a resume for your website. Here's a few questions to ask yourself: Who is your audience, what are your page stats, how many social media outlets you engage on and how many followers to each, in addition any services you may offer.  But for most that's where it ends!

Here's where I beg to differ, create two separate Media Kits. First, keep it simple. In the first Media Kit you want simplicity. You don't want to confuse the poor folks reading it wondering WTH you are talking about. Highlight your numbers and the services you offer, along with where they can find you on social media. This is where most people draw the line, but, that leaves the door open for businesses wondering how much services are and how they can utilize you to take the burden off them. So here is where I am a bit different.

With your second Media Kit go in depth with the details! If you are offering services such as Product Reviews and Giveaways, Sponsored Articles, Blog Sponsorship, Ad Placement, yada yada yada make sure the client knows how you can work for them along with pricing!

Not sure where to start with a Media Kit? Shoot me an email at MarciLoehner@gmail.com and I'll create one for you with prices starting at just $30!
